Velvet Wedding Invitations & Metallic Foil Stamping

Sometimes an Invitation is just so precious, that it leaves a lasting impression on your guests. These Velvet Invitations are exactly so!

Is there anything more luxurious than the gentle tactile texture of Velvet?
This blog post is for Brides that are curious about Velvet Invitations and want to know more. We’ll try to summarize our most asked questions below:

Which colors are available?

Matching Card Stock & Velvet colors

The shade won't be 100% the same between Velvet and matching Card Stock, as they are different materials. We endeavor to make sure they match as closely as possible, but as the source materials differ; there will be a minor difference. We personally don’t think this is an issue. However, if this is something that concerns you, we can share with you some comparison photos where possible, or you can order a sample set to see it first-hand.

How to use Velvet within your Stationery Suite?

We recommend using it for the Wedding Invitation, as this helps cement it as the centerpiece of the Stationery Suite. It helps elevate the suite and stands out, but without looking out of place.

Other options are using it as an envelope liner, or maybe for a small enclosure card. We wouldn´t recommend printing all the pieces of your suite on Velvet. It´s better as a stand-out or accent piece.

Details

The front of your card will be printed with suede velvet and the back with cardstock to make sure it stays steady. We don’t print both sides of the invite on velvet.

What is suede velvet? A type of soft velvet leather, made from calfskin, with a brushed texture to resemble fabric.

There is a minimum size of text we can use when printing. For line venue sketches, the thicker the line the better.

The biggest size we can print on Velvet is A5 - 5.83 × 8.27 inches - 148 x 210 mm

Minimum order: 50 pieces

We cannot print watercolor, letterpress, or digitally print on velvet.

Please keep in mind that velvet/suede is an exceptionally delicate fabric, making it more susceptible to damage or marking compared to other materials.

What is Metallic Foil Stamping?

A luxurious printing method using a combination of pressure, foil, and heat. We hot-press your design into the card, fusing the foil and creating a slight debossed metallic impression. Our foil printing yields a shiny finish rather than a matte one.

For each unique design intended for foil stamping, a specific printing plate or die is required. These plates are typically crafted from materials like magnesium or copper. Consequently, we cannot use Metallic Gold Foil for guest addresses or names; these must be either digitally printed or rendered in hand calligraphy.
