Wedding Stationery Suites - What do they contain?

Wedding Stationery has deep roots in tradition, etiquette and protocol. Combined with the myriad of options available: your Wedding Invitations can be a complex topic to navigate!

Don’t worry though, we’re here to help. We’ve catalogued the various components of a typical Wedding Stationery Suite below, so you can get a better feel for what your dream Wedding Invitations could be!

1. Just Engaged?

Now that you’ve just gotten engaged, it’s time to announce your intention to marry to all of your family and friends.

1. Save-the-Date Cards

These serve as an official announcement of your wedding date and the city/town where it will take place. Remember that everyone who receives a Save-the-Date card must receive a Wedding Invitation late on.

It’s okay to send a wedding invitation to someone who hasn’t received a Save the Date.

Essential information to add here:

  • Your Names

  • The proposed date of Your Marriage

  • The City and State where it will take place

  • Your wedding website can be added here if you have it already

  • A note about the invitation: e.g. “Formal invitation to follow”

2. Formal Invitations

With your Venue and Vendors booked for your big day, it’s time to assemble the Invitation properly.

A) Wedding Invitation

The invitation is one of the most important pieces when planning your big day.
Some of the information you will add here is your names, wedding date and time, and ceremony location.

  • Essential information to add here:

  • Who is hosting the wedding, as well as the type of ceremony

  • These are usually conveyed by the verbiage/wording used

  • Details such as when, where, and what time the event is going to take place

  • The Dress-code

B) RSVP Card and Envelope

These are also called reply cards, or response cards. In the past, a wedding invitation was properly responded to through a handwritten note. Over time, this tradition has fallen by the wayside, and printed RSVP cards have become a standard element in current weddings.

Your guests will fill out the necessary information and mail back their reply on this card, indicating who is attending, as well as their meal choices if applicable.

RSVP Envelopes can be included with any order and can be printed with the address of the person who is handling the responses. This is usually the happy couple (if you are living together) or the bride's mother.

C) Large Enclosure Card

Typically used as Details or Accommodation cards, these can be used for any information you'd like to share with your guests, such as pre-wedding brunch details, weekend activities, hotel accommodation for out-of-town guests, directions, or even parking information.

D) Small Enclosure Card

This card is most commonly used as a reception card or to add registry information. When the wedding ceremony invitees are also invited to the reception, It would be typical to include a reception card with the Reception address and start time.

E) Belly Band

The belly band is used to bundle together your suite items.

F) Velvet Ribbon

G) Wax Seal

Used to add a vintage touch to your Suite, as well as allow further personalization with the design therein.
Wax Seals add a vintage touch. We have two variations available:

  • Pre-made Designs

  • Custom: Couple initials or wedding logo

  • Venue sketch design

H) Outer Invitation Envelope

The outer envelope lists the household name and mailing address of your guests. Both return and guest addressing are added here.

You can further personalize your Wedding Stationery Suites by adding a custom liner to your Invitation Envelopes.

I) Inner Envelope

Each of your invited guests will be individually listed on the inner envelope. The inner envelope also serves the purpose of indicating exactly who is invited, and by default, who is not.

Having a single envelope is perfectly acceptable, However, using double envelopes gives your invitation an additional layer of protection. The inner envelope stays clean and pristine, allowing your guests to keep the Invitation clean and safe, and also to save it as a keepsake after the Big Day.

We offer a few different styles of inner envelopes: Card stock, Vellum, and Velvet.

Our card stock & Vellum envelopes can be digitally printed or foiled.

J) Vellum Jacket

Vellum is semi-opaque paper, and these jackets are perfectly sized to wrap around your Wedding Stationery. Typically they come unprinted, but we can also print custom designs on them. Either digitally printed or metallic gold foil.

K) Envelope Liner

3. Enclosures

If you’d like to further elevate your Wedding Stationery Suite, you can add a set of enclosures. Typical options would be one of the following:

A) Fabric Invitation Folio (With Matching Envelope)

B) Pocket Folders

Pocket invitations envelopes are a delightful way to present your wedding invitation. These are made of card stock.
(Please bear in mind that you will still need an outer envelope, in order to make sure your invitations are kept in place.
Pocket Envelopes come without adhesive for closing as you need an outer envelope to ship your invites.)

C) Fabric Invitation Boxes (With Matching Envelope)

For those who want to bring the presentation of their Wedding Invitations to the next level, we craft these stunning luxury boxes and folios. These are custom-made specifically for each order.

You can choose between Velvet Suede, Linen, or Leather fabrics, and a variety or printing methods.


4. Day-Of Stationery

Once the Invitations have been sent, your Stationery dreams don’t have to end there!

Next on the list to organize are the “Day-Of” Stationery items. These include everything you need to get your guests to your seats and to allow them to enjoy your celebration to its fullest.

A) Wedding Menu

Allow you, guests, to peruse the options available for your Reception meal

B) Place Card

Place cards sit in the actual place that a guest will sit. Their position is fixed. They typically have only the first name and depending on the situation, an initial from the surname. These are paired with a seating plan at the entrance so guests know which table to look for their place card and thus where to sit.⁣

You will only add the Guest’s first name here on the front. The back is blank.

C) Escort Card

Escort Cards denote which table a guest is to sit at, but not which seat. These cards usually consist of the First Name, Surname, and Table number. They are usually on a table at the entrance and allow guests to sit where they please at their assigned table.⁣

You will add here the Guest’s first name, initial surname, and Table number on the front only. The back is blank.

D) Table Numbers/Names

The indicate the number/name of each table, allowing your guests to easily find their seats.

5. Post-Wedding Stationery

With the knot finally tied, you’ll be starting your Happily-Ever-After together. The first step most married couples take is to send Thank You cards to their Wedding Guests for their presence at (and gifts for) the celebration of your marriage.
